Proximate Menu Bar and Taskbar Icons: What Each State Means
Understand what each Proximate menu bar icon means on macOS and Windows, from active monitoring states to license and update indicators.
When Proximate is running on your computer, you’ll see its “Cursor + Items” icon appear in your menu bar (macOS) or taskbar (Windows). The icon changes shape to indicate Proximate’s current state.
The mouse pointer is pointing upwards and the three squares are filled. Proximate is activated and on-screen items are visible. This is the state you’ll see most of the time.

The icon looks “broken” — the mouse pointer arrow is pointing downwards at the elements and crossed out. Proximate is not licensed correctly on your computer. Either your free trial has ended or your license is no longer valid.To fix this, you may need to update the payment details on your billing method.
